You can help us change a child’s life

No special qualifications are necessary to become a Home-Start volunteer, but volunteers are usually parents or grandparents with an interest in, and experience of, young children and family life. We welcome volunteers from all sections of the community.

Talking and listening can empower families to overcome their difficult situations. Volunteers are offered on-going training and support activities including specialist speakers and visits to family support services, as well as informal social gatherings.

Set up a fundraising event

Many people have participated in events to help raise vital funds for our work. Why not create a fundraiser – a walk, an event, a celebration…contact us if you think you can help.

Leave a legacy

Leaving a gift to charity in your will is a fantastic way for your generosity to last beyond your own lifetime to help the next generation. In certain circumstances it can also be tax efficient.

Choosing to leave a gift in your will to Home-Start East Lothian will allow us to continue our important work to support and help families in East Lothian. Whatever amount you decide to leave you will know that you will have helped us support families at a difficult time in their lives so that the children in those families are able to develop and thrive.

As a local charity we don’t have the resources to help you write your will or the right expertise to give advice. We recommend you speak to a solicitor when writing or updating your will.
